Biblical Understanding based on the Record of Scripture
YHVH describes specific times when He commands His people to assemble to worship. These festival days represent elements of YHVH's plan of salvation for mankind and their meaning is important in understanding His purpose and will.
The Church of God observes the Feast of Tabernacles as a time of rejoicing that portrays the 1000-year reign of Jesus Christ with the saints. It is considered to be a time of peace and safety with Satan and the demons having been bound. It is the time when the wolf and the lamb feed together and the lion eats straw like an ox.
The Day of Atonement is not about the forgiveness of sin, but rather the covering of sin and the opening of the offer of salvation to all of mankind.
Most Churches of God teach the resurrection of firstfruits is pictured by the fall holy day of Trumpets. Others teach the firstfruit resurrection will happen on or around the spring holy day of Pentecost (Greek = count fifty), which in Hebrew is the "Feast of Weeks". All agree that these days are major parts of God's end time plan, that they are based on the yearly spring and fall harvest seasons, and that they are to be kept today with God's commandments and the other holy days.
